Mangonui Community Patrol – Update

Kia ora Karikari,

You may have seen us cruising about in our patrol car between Taipa and Hihi. Guess what, we have also patrolled the Karikari area as well. We created this team to be the eyes and ears for our local police. Since inception we have managed to obtain a vehicle.

That vehicle has been sign-written to indicate that we are a certified community patrol.  We also have a police radio onboard, so we have instant communication when things hit the fan.

We have obtained many wonderful sponsors who help to keep the petrol in the car, pay the insurance and cover other sundry running expenses.

Since we started actively patrolling We have been instrumental in assisting with a serious assault via dashcam to the police.

We have aided our local police officer to apprehend stolen vehicles.

Advised our local business owners when buildings were not secure.

Helped when people have broken down.

Assisted a scared child get home safely and much much more.

We are currently trying to investigate funding options for another vehicle.  This will enable us to patrol the Karikari area regularly.

If you wish to join the already amazing patrollers please reach out registering your interest in the first instance by emailing mangonui@cpnz.org.nz.

Look out for one another stay safe and be kind.
